Wedding Gift

I was recently commissioned to paint a triple portrait for a couple due to be married in September. They have a yellow lab that needed to be added since he was not in the reference photo. I thought he should be the center of attention ( as all dogs should), so I used some ***ART MAGIC!*** to make it happen. I wish them all the best in their future together, and I hope their dog likes this painting.

(Not A) Pet Painting #58 – Kimari/Little Wing

“Kimari” Acrylic on 16×20 canvas

A friend of my sister commissioned this piece of her younger sister, Kimari, who passed away at the young age of 16 this past year.  She wanted the painting to be influenced by Jimi Hendrix, so I did my best to give it a psychedelic feel and still keep the sweetness of this 16 year old girl.

I’m always honored when someone asks me to paint a loved one, but it means even more when someone trusts me to capture a family member or friend that has passed away.  I hope that this painting brings her some comfort and memories every time she looks at it.

(Not A) Pet Painting #55 – Fawn

fawn Is it a pet? Nope. Is is really finished? Not really. I kind of like it, though, so I thought I’d add it to the blog since I feel guilty about not posting in a few days.  This was just a fun acrylic sketch of an itty bitty fawn that I gave to my son.  His brother just had a birthday, and got a bunch of cool new gadgets and toys, so he got this painting to tide him over until his big day in May.

Pet Painting #53 – Macpie and Boskie

This is another memorial painting of two super cute dogs.  Mac and Bo were loved dearly by their mom, and this was a surprise gift to her from her daughter.  This was also another meshed painting brought to you by ***ART MAGIC***!

I’m starting to really like these.  I still worry that I’m going to get the proportions off and make one dog look completely the wrong size.  People seem to like them, though, especially when it’s an instance such as this one where both dogs are gone, and the owner just wants a picture of the two of them together for a sweet memory.  That’s what it’s all about.

Pet Painting #52 – Baters

This painting was a special request from the author of the blog Hamster Patrol! .  He, like I, is a big fan of orange tabbies, so I told him I would do a painting of one of his orange cats, Baters.  You can go to his blog to see the reference photo that I used for this painting as well as many other adorable photos of his pumpkin colored kitties.
