Pet Painting #37 Playing With Color

I decided to do something a little different with this one and had some fun with the background colors. The reference photo didn’t have a very interesting background, and I always think of Chihuahuas as having very colorful personalities, so I mixed a few bold colors and overlapped them to make a cool effect. I also kept the painting pretty loose because I kept getting caught up in the details of the dog’s face too much.  I switched to a larger brush, and that seemed to do the trick!
